xCinema
Privacy Policy
xCinema is made by Damian Glasek, an independent developer. The short version: the app has no accounts of its own, no advertising and no tracking, and I do not collect or store personal data about the people who use it.
What the app collects
Nothing that identifies you. The app has no sign-in of its own, contains no analytics or advertising software, and does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your chosen list order (for example Now Playing or Top Rated).
- The films and episodes you mark as watched, your favourites, and the shows you want new-episode reminders for.
- A record of the tips you have left, so each one is counted once.
- A cache of posters and photos, so they load quickly the next time.
This is kept in the app's own storage on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
Services the app talks to
To show you films, shows and people, the app connects directly from your iPhone to the services below. As with any internet connection, each of them receives your IP address and basic technical details of the request. They handle that data under their own policies.
- TMDB (The Movie Database) provides the titles, descriptions, ratings, reviews, cast lists and images. What you search for is sent to TMDB to get the results. It is not linked to your name or to any account. See the TMDB privacy policy.
- YouTube plays trailers, in YouTube's embedded player, only when you choose to play one. See the Google privacy policy.
- Trakt, only if you choose to connect your Trakt account in Settings. The app then signs in to Trakt from your iPhone and keeps your watched films and episodes and your favourites the same on both sides. That data goes straight between your iPhone and Trakt; I never receive it, and the sign-in details stay in your iPhone's keychain. Disconnecting stops the sync and leaves what is on your iPhone in place. See the Trakt privacy policy.
- Apple processes tips through In-App Purchase. I never see your payment details. Apple gives me sales totals, not the identity of the people who paid. See the Apple privacy policy.
Links that leave the app
Settings has links to the App Store review page, to xCinema on X, and to email. They open in other apps, which have their own policies. If you email me, I receive your address and whatever you write, and I use it only to answer you.
This website
The pages at damianai.org count visits with privacy-friendly analytics that I host myself. It sets no cookies and builds no profile of you. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver and protect it.
Children
xCinema is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because I hold no personal data about people who use the app, there is normally nothing for me to give you, correct or delete. If you have emailed me and want that correspondence removed, write to me and I will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
