Privacy Policy

Effective 21 September 2026

RainWatch is a weather app for Apple Watch with a companion app for iPhone. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and it has no servers of its own. The developer does not receive your location, your saved cities or any other personal data from the app.

Who is responsible

RainWatch is developed by Damian Głasek, who is the data controller for this policy. Contact: [email protected].

Location

If you allow location access while using the app, RainWatch reads your location on the watch or iPhone, accurate to about 100 metres. It uses it for these things only:

In each case the coordinates are sent directly from your device to Apple or, for air quality, to the World Air Quality Index. They are not sent to the developer and are not used for anything else. For Polish weather warnings, the iPhone app downloads the public warnings published by IMGW-PIB; it sends them nothing about you. If you don't allow location access, RainWatch shows a demo of its weather states instead. You can change the permission at any time in Settings on your watch or iPhone, under Privacy & Security, Location Services.

City search and saved cities

You search for and save cities (Premium) in the iPhone app. The text you type is sent to Apple Maps to find matching places. The cities you save (name, coordinates and time zone) are stored on your iPhone, and their name and coordinates are copied directly to your paired Apple Watch over Apple's connection between the two devices, not through any server of ours. To fetch their weather, their coordinates are sent to Apple Weather and, on iPhone, to the World Air Quality Index for air quality.

Data stored on your devices

On your iPhone, RainWatch keeps your saved cities. On your watch, it keeps a copy of your saved cities, the most recent forecast so it can appear immediately at launch, and a note that you have seen the Premium welcome message. None of it leaves your devices except as described above, and all of it is deleted when you delete the app.

Purchases

RainWatch Premium is a subscription sold through the App Store, on iPhone or on the watch. Apple processes the payment. The app receives only whether your subscription is active; it never receives your name, email address or payment details. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings.

Service providers

Weather, maps and payments are provided by Apple and are covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. Weather data: Apple Weather. Air quality on iPhone is provided by the World Air Quality Index Project, which receives the coordinates of the place it is asked about. Polish weather warnings come from the public data of IMGW-PIB.

Email

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

This website

damianai.org/rain uses no cookies, analytics or advertising. It remembers your language choice in your browser's local storage. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, and the landing page loads fonts from Google Fonts, so both receive your IP address when you visit. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page and browser type) for security and operation and deletes them after 14 days.

Children

RainWatch does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because the app sends no personal data to the developer, these rights mostly concern email you have sent us. To use them, write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Polish data protection authority, Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (uodo.gov.pl), or to the authority in your country.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
